tether

Phone ↔ computer

Send files from phone to PC with one QR scan.

Getting a photo off your phone and onto your computer should not involve emailing yourself. Start a Tether session on the PC, scan the QR code with your phone’s camera, and you are connected: send files, photos and text in either direction.

Start a session, freeNo install · No sign-up · Encrypted, peer-to-peer

Scan to connect, no typing

When you start a session on your computer, Tether shows a QR code while it waits. Point your phone’s camera at it and you join instantly; there is no code to type and no app to download.

Share straight from any app

Install Tether from your phone’s browser (Add to Home Screen) and it appears in the phone’s Share menu. Share a photo, a PDF or a link from any app, pick Tether, and it waits in your session until you tap Send.

Going the other way, drop a file on the page on your PC and it arrives on the phone with a Save button.

Send text and links to your phone

Type or paste into the box on your computer and press Enter: the text appears on your phone, ready to copy. It is perfect for long URLs, addresses, Wi-Fi details or anything you’d otherwise retype.

Questions about phone to pc

Does it work with both Android and iPhone?

Yes. Tether works in Chrome on Android and in Safari or Chrome on iPhone, and connects to Windows, Mac or Linux computers.

Do my phone and PC need to be on the same Wi-Fi?

No, in most cases they can be on different networks, including mobile data. A few strict networks block direct connections; on the same Wi-Fi it is the most reliable.

Are photos compressed?

No. Files are sent byte-for-byte as they are on your device.
